Aviko Potato was established in July 2007. The company has a much longer history under its former name, Korteweg B.V. From its inception in 1968, the company grew in line with the developments in the potato market and became specialised as a supplier for the Western European potato processing industry.

A potato sorting company was built in Swifterbant with a capacity of 200 tonnes per hour. In 1988 the company was acquired by the (H)ZPC seed potato company, which led to the availability of a wide range of PCN-resistant varieties of consumption potatoes that were suitable for fries.
In 1998 Korteweg became part of the Aviko group. At the same time as when the new washing and sorting company in Steenderen was put into operation in 2007, Korteweg B.V. and Aviko’s potato procurement department merged into Aviko Potato and the office moved to Dronten.
